Tiger Woods to Apologize, Discuss His Past and Future

Feb 17th, 2010 by Bilal Ali

Tiger Woods is ready to face the public.

After being pummeled in the media in a sex scandal that temporarily derailed his golfing career and shattered his image, Woods plans to ease back into the spotlight by breaking his silence to a select audience Friday morning, his reps say in a statement to Bloomberg news.

“Tiger Woods will be speaking to a small group of friends, colleagues and close associates … at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida,” says the statement from his agent, Mark Steinberg, and his spokesman, Glenn Greenspan. “Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future and he plans to apologize for his behavior.”

In an interview, Steinberg tells Bloomberg: “Tiger feels as though it’s time to make amends and to publicly do that.”

Woods will not be taking questions, Steinberg says. A group of reporters will be allowed to observe.

Woods, 34, has not spoken in a public forum or made any public appearances since his bizarre Florida car crash last November led to a torrent of allegations that the married PGA pro had affairs with numerous women over the years.
He announced a temporary end to touring and apologized twice in written statements – admitting infidelity in the second statement – before reportedly going to sex rehab.
