A 47-year-old Grasonville man attempts to Lights Wife’s Car On Fire At Gas Station

Aug 22nd, 2010 by Bilal Ali

ABC News:

An arrest warrant has been issued for an Eastern Shore man who attempted to set his wife on fire at a Stevensville gas station.

Maryland State Police say that 47-year-old Pernell Clanton, Jr. pumped gasoline in a car occupied by his wife Yolanda Clanton, 43, and proceeded to ignite an explosion within the vehicle following an argument between the two.

The incident happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Friday evening at the Shore Stop gas station in the 100-block of Main Street in Stevensville.

Investigators say Yolanda Clanton was able to get out of the vehicle before the explosion, she reportedly sustained burns to the face and hands.

Pernell Clanton is currently under guard by state troopers at Bayview Hospital where he is being treated for injuries sustained from the fire.

A police spokesman reports that charges are expected to be served on Clanton upon his release from the hospital.
