Vanessa Williams Returning To Broadway For Stephen Sondheim Revue

Singer, songwriter, actress and producer Vanessa Williams is heading back to Broadway. She’s signed on with Barbara Cook, Michael Arden and Leslie Kritzer to take part in Sondheim on Sondheim, a look at Stephen Sondheim through his music, film and videotaped interviews. Directed by James Lapine, Sondheim on Sondheim opens April 22, 2010, at Studio 54 in New York. Previews begin March 19.
It was back in 1994 that Williams was cast in the Broadway production of Kiss of Spider Woman. She was also featured in a Tony-nominated performance as the Witch in Sondheim’s Into the Woods, a revival of the show in 2002. Williams, of course, now stars in the Emmy Award-winning Ugly Betty. The show begins its fourth season Friday, October 16, on NBC.
This June, Vanessa released a new CD, The Real Thing, which includes the Smooth Jazz Top 20 hit single “Just Friends.”
