Rick Ross Continues To Stick To Drug Dealer Past
Aug 4th, 2008 by Bilal Ali
Rick Ross is sticking to the past he raps about in his music, despite being outed recently by TheSmokingGun.com (TSG) for working as a Correctional Officer in his past.
In a recent interview with Don Diva magazine, Rick Ross continued to stay consistent in his story that he is a former cocaine dealer who turned his life around as a rapper, and says he’s never tried to hide his past.
“When I’m making my music and talking about blow, it’s because I did it,” Ross tells the mag. “When I say I’m rich off cocaine, it’s because I did it. I never tried to hide my past! I put my name inside of all my CDs. My company has my SS #. I could’ve put a company name.”
According to Ross, when he was 19, he was doing his “independent thing,” despite TSG’s findings.
“I was one of the only n****s in the city with a show truck at 19 (years old) on Daytons with TVs doing my own independent thing,” he says. “I done put a lot of losses in this game. I done took losses in the street, losses with the music. I’ve been up and I’ve been down; that’s what makes me who I am.”
He also is adamant that he’s never had any part in getting anyone arrested or locked up. “I never ratted on a n****, I never locked up a n****,” he adds later in the article. “I believe in the death penalty for rats.”
As far as the beef with Trick Daddy, and Trick’s beef with Plies. That’s over says Ross. They are fixing things right now. In fact, he said he loves Trick Daddy for helping him get into the game.
“I just talked to Plies two weeks ago and we fixin’ that Trick Daddy and Plies thing. That’s small,” he says. “We all street n****s that got 30 killers behind us and we all rich and we all wild. I love Trick, cause he the one that brought me in the game.”
