Alicia Keys, With New Jewelry Line, Performing On The Today Show
Nov 24th, 2009 by Bilal Ali
Alicia Keys is the latest celebrity-turned-designer, as she’s debuting a jewelry collection, The Barber’s Daughters, founded with designer Gisele Theriault. Each piece of the silver and gemstone collection is inscribed with poetry and prayers of Japanese author Masaru Emoto. “The words that were written on them really resonated with the songwriter in me,” Keys told Women’s Wear Daily (WWD). Prices range from $85 to $2,500 and can be purchased at thebarbersdaughters.com.
The current collection will also be available for purchase or custom order today (November 24th) at the Collette Blanchard Gallery in New York.
It was just last month that actress Halle Berry won a bidding war that saw her pay $40,000 for one of Key’s necklaces. It was one of the items available at a benefit for Keys’ Keep-A-Child-Alive charity dedicated to providing life-saving anti-retroviral treatment, care and support services to families whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.
Keys will be performing this morning as part of the The Today Show’s Toyota Concert Series. Her new CD, The Element of Freedom, will be released December 15. The first single from the CD, “Doesn’t Mean Anything,” is on the Smooth Jazz Top 20 chart.
