When Marvin Sapp’s “Here I Am” charted near the top of the Billboard album chart two months ago, he initially didn’t realize the significance.
“I thought nothing of it,” he recalled. “But when someone broke it down, I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I was just blown away.”

New Orleans blues and gospel singer Marva Wright died Tuesday at age 62, her former manager said.
Adam Shipley confirmed that Wright died of complications from a stroke she suffered last year.

Michigan regulators said Thursday that a member of the Winans gospel-music family led a fraudulent, multimillion-dollar investment program by promoting bogus Saudi Arabia oil bonds.
The Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation issued a cease-and-desist order, although Commissioner Ken Ross said the alleged scheme probably stopped at the end of 2008.
